trip, drip

this trip
down memory lane
the words just dont feel the same

the words of self-assurance
of self blame

little did she know, she knew where to go.

she lands in the same spot.
both feet touch the ground.
grounded,
feeling the sound

same songs singing over and over
like a record playing,
almost never sober

high off life,
little did she know
she knew exactly where to go.

down to the place
of comfort and space
forgiving herself and all others around

she knew where to go.

to the light
to the light
to the light

she sheds

oh how long its been
since youve seen her face

hers is not yours,
embrace

oh how long its been since youve seen her face
she sheds the darkness

hers is not yours,
embrace

she stands at the edge,
waiting for sorrow to fill her cup

yet she is here
she is standing on the cliff

oh how long its been since youve seen her face

hers is not yours,
embrace.

you wish you knew,
but you dont
she lays her head down
and lives
in the beauty
of the light

hers, not yours.

say goodbye once more

to the girl you knew

that stands in her own sunshine

not yours,
embrace.
